Pall Life Sciences' Acrodisc WBC premium syringe filter is an innovative filtration device designed specifically for use in the capture and recovery of Leukocytes and the separation of red blood cells. The Acrodisc WBC filter contains Pall's patented Leukosorb media. Leukosorb is a fibrous matrix that uses a multimodal approach of size exclusion and adsorption to capture and recover leukocytes from whole blood samples while allowing Red Blood Cells (RBCs) and platelets to flow through the membrane.

The Acrodisc WBC provides scientists a simple and efficient method to isolate blood cells used in a variety of research applications including:
  • Antigenic specificity
  • Antigen modulation studies
  • Cell receptor analysis
  • Lymphocyte recovery for cell therapy research applications
  • Stem cell research applications
Easy to Use - Simply inject the blood sample into the Acrodisc WBC syringe filter using the standard luer lock connector, while also capturing any residual sample in a collection vessel. Once the sample is fully injected, use an appropriate stand to hold the sample upright in order to allow gravity to continue to move the sample through the Leukosorb membrane, capturing and recovering the white blood cells and allowing the red blood cells and platelets to flow through the filter into a collection vessel (total processing time takes approximately 10-15 minutes). To complete filtration, insert plunger into syringe and push remaining air through filter to remove any residual cells. Remove Acrodisc filter from the syringe and connect to a new syringe. Using isolation media, back flush medium through Acrodisc to remove the captured leukocytes from the filter membrane. Use captured Leukocytes for harvesting for analysis or nucleic acid isolation; use the red blood cells or platelets for other scientific research applications.

Efficient - With the Acrodisc WBC, the uniquely designed filter does all the difficult capture work, resulting in more efficient white blood cell separation as compared to Buffy Coat density gradient methods. The Acrodisc WBC yields greater cell capture and recovery with less sample compared to larger filter formats and also exudes very low hold up volume as compared to larger white blood cell isolation filters (hold up volume < 2 mL, with total sample volume = 12 mL).
