Minimate™ Streamlines Laboratory-Scale Concentration,
Desalting, and Buffer Exchange Processes
- Plug-n-play design. Plug in a Minimate TFF capsule, add sample, and turn on the pump to start processing. The Minimate TFF system includes all the hardware, tubing, and fittings needed to get your TFF process up and running quickly.
- High concentration factors. The low system working volume achieved through the use of a conical bottom reservoir and compact design enables high concentration factors from up to 1 L or more of sample to be achieved. Concentrate your sample down to as little as 5 mL.
- All wetted components are made from low protein binding, chemically resistant, biologically safe materials.
- Minimal sample carryover. The system has a very low volume and interior fluid contact area. Fluid does not pass through and is not retained in the pump mechanism.
- Roller head peristaltic pumps provide gentle processing and are the choice for critical applications such as fragile biomolecules.
- System components are designed for easy assembly and disassembly; no tools required. Tubing and fitting replacement is simple and quick. Slip nuts for luer locks eliminate tubing kinks.

FAQs
1 Q. How many times can a Minimate™ capsules be reused?
A. There are no specific guidelines for the total number of times a Minimate capsule can be reused as it is dependent on usage frequency, particles in the fluid, clean-in-place (CIP) procedure, normalized water permeability (NWP), and integrity testing. Pall recommends that a NWP value is taken on all new Minimate capsules prior use so after use and CIP, NWP can be re-evaluated. Typically, after CIP/regeneration the NWP of capsules should be >75% of the original NWP value, if it is not Pall recommends doing the cleaning procedure again. When the NWP value on a used Minimate capsule drops below 50% of the original NWP value, it is suggested that a new capsule is used.
2 Q. How many times can a Centramate™ cassettes be reused?
A. There are no specific guidelines for the total number of times a Centramate cassette can be reused as it is dependent on usage frequency, particles in the fluid, clean-in-place (CIP) procedure, normalized water permeability (NWP), and integrity testing. Pall recommends that a NWP value is taken on all new Centramate cassettes prior use so after use and CIP, NWP can be re-evaluated. Typically, after CIP/regeneration the NWP of cassettes should be >75% of the original NWP value, if it is not Pall recommends doing the cleaning procedure again. When the NWP value on a used Centramate cassette drops below 50% of the original NWP value, it is suggested that a new cassette is used.
3 Q. When should I order Centramate™ vs Centramate PE?
A. Certain applications require a fluid path that is free from metal. Our standard Centramate has stainless steel fittings and a 100% stainless steel cassette holder, so it would not be a good option for these applications. Pall’s Centramate PE has plastic fittings and the fluid path of the holder is polyethylene plastic. The pressure gauge that comes standard with the Centramate PE will have a stainless steel pathway, but the ¼” NPT fittings the system uses makes it easy to use a pressure gauge whose wettable parts will be free from metal.
4 Q. What do I need to attach an LV Centramate™ to the Minimate™ EVO system?
A. Pall recommends ordering the Minimate EVO Fittings kit, PN 97014, to get the additional 3-way stop cocks, hose barb adapters, and tubing needed to properly connect the LV Centramate holder to the Minimate EVO system. Contact your Pall representative or technical support if you have further questions.
5 Q. How many cassettes can I stack in a Centramate™ or Centramate PE?
A. You can stack up to 5 0.1 m2 T12 cassettes on Centramate, giving you up to 0.5m2 of effective filtration area. For the Centramate PE, only 4 0.1 m2 T12 cassettes will fit because of the thicker PE base. Stacking multiple cassettes in the holders increases the surface area of the membrane which gives a higher permeate flow rate and increases the throughput.
6 Q. Guidance on average recirculation flow rates and permeate flux rates for the Minimate™, LV Centramate™, Centramate PE/SS.
A. For the Minimate we recommend a recirculation flow rate of 30-40 ml/min. If the inlet pressure is >30PSI at these flow rates, the rate should be decreased. A typical permeate flux rate will be 4 ml/min. For the LV Centramate we recommend a recirculation flow rate of 120-160 ml/min. If the inlet pressure is >30PSI at these flow rates, the rate should be decreased. A typical permeate flux rate will be 15 ml/min. For the Centramate and Centramate PE we recommend a recirculation flow rate of 600-800 ml/min. If the inlet pressure is >30PSI at these flow rates, the rate should be decreased. A typical permeate flux rate will be 75 ml/min. Note: These are typical values. Actual values may be higher or lower depending on the membr
