Description

As samples get smaller and more numerous, the need for novel methods to purify samples and improve assays has led Pall to develop a broad line of multi-well filter plate platforms. Pall supply a number of AcroPrep Advance 96-well Filter Plates that are fully compatible with applications using an industry standard 96-well footprint.

Multi-well filter plates can be used across a wide array of life science and analytical applications. They enable rapid sample preparation workflows and are ideal to use in automated high throughput applications.

AcroPrep filter plates can be used on manual operated vacuum manifolds or on automated robotic platforms. They are designed in accordance with the standards set forth by the Society of Biomolecular Screening (ANSI/SBS x-2004) for multi-well plates. The plate has a rigid one-piece construction, which facilitates ease of use in automated systems. The rigidity of the plate prevents it from flexing and jamming in robotic processing units. Plates rows are labeled with numbers and letters and a notch on the plate determines correct plate orientation.

The patented design and unique sealing mechanism used in Pall filter plates individually seals each well to prevent crosstalk (cross contamination from one well to another). A unique fluid director on the bottom of the plate also eliminates cross contamination of the filtrate during processing.

Pall’s proprietary sealing mechanism provides flexibility in integrally sealing a variety of membranes and media in the plate. This flexibility allows Pall to develop products that can meet

the ever-changing customer needs across a number of laboratory applications.

AcroPrep Advance 96-well Filter Plates are constructed from chemically resistant and biologically inert polypropylene. This means that the plate’s materials are low in binding to nucleic acids and proteins. The nature of the polypropylene housing also provides durability when using harsh organic solvents and will not contribute unwanted extractables to the filtrate. Additionally, the materials of construction have been tested to ensure that they do not contribute to ion suppression/enhancement.

  • Available with various filter choices – Specialized membranes and media accommodate for a wide range of laboratory applications and are suitable for either retentate or filtrate studies
  • Optimized outlet tips – Minimizes sample leakage during incubation steps and reduces the presence of hanging drops following filtration
  • Smooth well design – Provides consistency in filtration times, as well as efficient sample and bead recovery
  • Proprietary sealing mechanism – Results in fast, uniform filtration rates across the plate, reducing crosstalk, resulting in well-to-well, plate-to-plate, and lot-to- lot consistency
  • Automation compatible – Manufactured in accordance with SBS guidelines, allowing plates to be run in manual, semi-automated, and automated processes
  • Volume choice - AcroPrep Advance 96-well Filter Plates are available in well volumes of 350 μL, 1 mL and 2 mL to suit the requirements of different applications

Pall’s 96-well filter plates are available with various media and membranes that can be used across a range of laboratory life science and analytical applications.

For multiplexing applications the combination of the AcroPrep plate’s smooth well wall design and the Supor® (polyethersulfone) membrane, with its highly consistent surface morphology, provides extremely efficient bead recovery.

The AcroPrep™ Advance Filter Plates for Lysate Clearance feature an integrated prefilter which provides consistent and efficient filtration of samples with high levels of gross particulate.

When performing solvent filtration Pall offers a 96-well filter plate that contains a wwPTFE (water-wettable polytetrafluoroethylene), a universal chemical compatible membrane for use with both aqueous and organic solvents.

Included in the range of Pall’s 96-well filter plates is the AcroPrep Advance 96-well Long Tip Filter Plate for Nucleic Acid Binding. This plate incorporates a silica-based quartz glass fiber media to allow for the efficient binding of DNA and RNA, while providing smooth flow and rapid processing of samples. The combination of the media and plate allows for multiple applications, giving researchers the flexibility to purify plasmid DNA from bacteria, and genomic DNA or total RNA from cell culture samples.

The plate also features a long outlet tip. This tip combined with Pall’s proprietary well sealing technology reduces the risk of cross contamination from one well to another.
