Supor membrane offer superior flow rates and high throughput. The membrane is low protein binding, making it suitable for the filtration of biological solutions.
Non-sterile syringe filters with a Supor membrane in modified acrylic housing can be used for the filtration of general aqueous solutions. They are available in a 32 mm diameter, offering a large effective filtration area of 5.8 cm2. A range of different pore sizes from 0.2 μm to 5 μm are available to suit different application requirements.
The PSF (Premium Syringe Filter) 25 mm Supor syringe filters with polypropylene housing are ideal for use in analytical chemistry filtration applications, such as HPLC/UHPLC, dissolution testing, or other techniques in which a polyethersulfone membrane has been specified.
The Acrodisc PSF features a multi-layered glass fiber prefilter (GxF) above the Supor membrane. Syringe filters with the GxF configuration prefilter provide two to four times the throughput of standard prefilter devices for particulate-laden samples. This makes the filter ideal for applications in which there could be a high particulate load in the sample, for example in dissolution testing.
The PSF 25 mm filters have been designed and certified to meet the exacting requirements of automation systems. They demonstrate critical criteria including smooth filter-to-filter release, consistent turret advancement, exceptional housing strength and a strict outside filter geometry to ensure proper alignment and consistent operation. AutopackTM tube packaging is available for compatible automated equipment.
The Ion Chromatography (IC) Acrodisc syringe filters feature an optimized Supor membrane that has undergone several extra washing steps ensuring the product has low conductivity detectable extractables.
Sample filtration protects the IC system from various particulate materials, reduces system downtime, extends analytical column life, protects the injection port, and improves the accuracy and reproducibility of final results. For standard HPLC and IC systems using columns packed with 3 µm or larger particles, the recommended filtration standard is 0.45 µm for syringe filters. For columns with smaller packing material, microbore columns, or microbial growth concerns, an 0.2 µm filter product is recommended.
It is very important that products used in analytical sample preparation do not leach extractable materials which may lead to inaccurate results. In the case of ion chromatography, extractables may refer to any ionic components leaching from the filter materials. Extractables can cause several problems for chromatographers, foremost being inaccurate quantitation. Extractables may coelute with analyte peaks, causing false quantitation or extraneous peaks.
Pall IC Acrodisc syringe filters have been specifically designed and manufactured for IC applications. They are tested using a highly sensitive IC protocol to monitor inorganic extractables and are certified for low levels of inorganic extractables, with actual background levels of filter extractables that are typically less than 20 ppb for chloride, 6 ppb for nitrate, 1 ppb for phosphate, and 10 ppb for sulfate.
Pall IC Acrodisc syringe filters are available in 13 mm and PSF 25 mm diameters to suit the volume requirements of different sample sizes. The PSF 25 mm filters have been designed and certified to meet the exacting requirements of automation systems. Autopack tube packaging is available for compatible automated equipment.
