Depth Filter Cartridges

Superior Removal Performance and High Contaminant Holding Capacity Across a Wide Variety of Industries

Pall’s melt-blown depth filter cartridges are designed to achieve industry-leading filtration performance and accommodate fluid process needs in a variety of applications. Recognizing that different applications have different fluid cleanliness and filtration requirements, the Pall range of depth filter products are designed to help you choose the best solution at the most economical cost.

Pall offers three distinct groups of melt-blown filter elements including:

  • Highly Critical Cleanliness: Highly critical fluid applications are protected by the finer range of ratings, offering a graded pore structure media with 99.98% retention efficiency for defined cleanliness control, coupled with long element service life.
  • Critical to general particulate control: For less critical applications, the mid-range ratings offer high retention efficiency (99.9%), with the added benefits of CoLD® (Co-located Large Diameter) fiber technology manufacturing methods, providing maximum strength at a low overall cost.
  • General particulate control: For general particulate reduction and less sensitive component protection, coarse-rated elements with 90% retention efficiencies provide reliable protection at the lowest possible cost.

Description

Melt-Blown Depth Filters

Known for their enhanced dirt holding capacity, Melt-Blown (or gradient) depth filter cartridges are constructed of melt-blown polypropylene media and feature a fixed fiber matrix with a graded pore structure. Along with continuous intertwined fibers of varying diameters this structure poses a tortuous path for fluid and particulates throughout the depth filter media.  The excellent element strength is due to metal, polypropylene, or extruded fibrous inner cores. With the coarsest pore sizes in the outermost layers and decreasing pore sizes towards the innermost layers of the cartridge, pre-filtration and fine filtration can occur within the same cartridge.

The high strength and long service life of a depth filter cartridge can be advantageous over other surface filtration methods due to less frequent change-outs, improved quality, and reduced operational cost.

Spiral-Wound Depth Filters

Pall also offers an innovative spiral-wound depth filter cartridge, which is absolute rated and uses multiple layers of media to create a graded pore structure that provides pre and final filtration in one cartridge. The Poly-Fine® ARD Series of filter cartridge use a proprietary filter media produced directly by Pall for highly consistent, reproducible performance.
