Pall Corporation is pleased to announce that we are upgrading our Ultipor® and Coralon™ filter element technology. Our new Supralon™ fluid filter elements represent a significant advancement in equipment protection and are a direct replacement (same form, fit, and function) for current Coralon® and Ultipor® filter elements (typically part numbers prefixed with “HC”). Supralon filter elements have been designed to deliver the best performance features of its Coralon and Ultipor predecessors.

With Pall’s Coralon™ hydraulic and lube oil filter elements, protecting fluid systems has never been easier!
A simple and risk-free upgrade that does not require any adapters or special tools and is directly interchangeable with the current Ultipor® filter installations, Coralon lube oil filters and hydraulic fluid filters are the ideal solution for those looking to achieve optimum performance and yield at lesser costs.
Benefits of switching to Coralon filter elements:
Why Choose Pall’s Coralon Filter Elements?
Overcoming the challenges faced in lube and hydraulic fluid applications, Pall’s Coralon filters provide an easy and advanced upgrade in oil filter media. These hydraulic fluid filter elements deliver improved and consistent performance that protect fluid systems while producing up to 15x cleaner fluids, and returning up to 20% savings in overall filtration costs.
Pall’s Coralon (anti-static) hydraulic oil filter elements provide:
Overall, there is no drop in filter performance or efficiency, until the filter is blocked. And when the filter gets blocked, it indicates that the contaminants are in the filter rather than in the machines, all of which add up to improved equipment performance and longevity.
Coralon anti-static filters also eliminate problems related to electrostatic charging and its effects, such as:

Coralon Filter Performance
The effectiveness of a filter in an operating system reduces due to conditions such as varying flow, cold starts, shock and vibration.
The Cyclic Stabilization Test (based on SAE ARP4205) examines the effects of cyclic flow conditions and the potentiality of the capture and retention characteristics of the filter in retaining dirt and contaminants. The result showed an improved filter performance reporting method, that simply tells the user via ISO Codes, the level of contamination control that can be maintained throughout the filter’s service life. *
A critical measure of a filter’s performance is its ability to sustain fluid cleanliness throughout its service life. Only Coralon filters have proven to produce sustained fluid cleanliness over the filter’s full life, compared to Ultipor® filters.
Measuring Filter Performance - the Cyclic Stabilization Test (based on SAE ARP4205):

The Cyclic Stabilization Test examines the effects of cyclic flow conditions and dirt loading on the capture and retention characteristics of the filter. The result is an improved filter performance reporting method that simply tells the user via ISO Codes (see Table 1) the level of contamination control that can be maintained throughout the filter’s service life.

Coralon Anti-Static Filter Technology
Designing lube, hydraulic pressure line, and hydraulic return line filter elements has traditionally been a question of balance. Make a filter finer and more efficient and you have to sacrifice clean pressure drop and/or service life. Today, with the higher flow rates being put through filter elements, static charging/discharging has become more prevalent and can lead to significant operational problems.
Coralon anti-static hydraulic and lube oil filter elements provide consistent, high particle capture efficiency, low pressure drop and high dirt holding capacity coupled with the added benefit of significantly reducing static charge generation.

Product Highlights:
While designing hydraulic fluid filter elements, maintaining a balance between efficiency and clean pressure drop and/or service life has always been a predicament of sorts. Besides, with higher flow rates passing through filter elements, static charging/discharging has become more prevalent and can lead to significant operational problems.

All Coralon filter elements are manufactured by Pall to rigorous procedures and strict quality controls. Elements are validated to the following ISO test protocols:
A critical measure of a filter’s performance is its ability to sustain fluid cleanliness throughout its service life. This graph compares a Coralon 7μm(c) rated hydraulic fluid filter to an Ultipor III filter and four competitors’ products with equivalent ratings.
Only Coralon filters produce sustained fluid cleanliness over the full life of the filter.
Coralon Filters by Pall can be used in the following applications:
1. How effective are Coralon filters in fluid cleanliness?
The Coralon filter is consistent in its performance and efficiency throughout the filter life. When tested against other filters in the market, only Coralon filter displayed sustained fluid cleanliness over the service life of the filter.
The filter can be used till it is blocked by dirt and contaminants, that would have, otherwise, adversely affected the equipment and operations.
2. In addition to improved performance, what difference will I see?
The Coralon Filters upgrade previously used elements of standard medium grades (Z,P,N,S,T). The new elements have a medium code of ‘C’ in place of the existing U,D,K,M,X codes in the current filter element part number.
3. How easily can Ultipor filters be replaced with Coralon filters?
Ultipor filters are easily replaceable with Coralon filters as they have the same fit, form and function. They are directly interchangeable with no adapters or special tooling required, all for the same price.
4. What are the performance ratings for Coralon filters?
The Cyclic Stabilization Test (based on SAE ARP4205) delivers the following performance rating:

5. Considering advancements in anti-static technology, what are the media charging measurements for Coralon™ filters?
This table has a summary of the filter’s media charging measurements.

6. Apart from the Cyclic Stabilization Test, what other procedures are conducted to test Coralon filters?
Various procedures are conducted to test the effectiveness of the Coralon filter. Here are some.
