Eurocopter’s Lama and Alouette helicopters are used in a variety of commercial and military roles, including passenger and troop transport, agricultural activities, and mountain rescue. These helicopters must be ready 24/7 for rapid deployment to any location. They require a maintenance-free engine protection system.
The “fit and forget” PUREair system is the ideal solution for such challenging operations. It shields the engine inlet from airborne contamination, which results in:
- Safer operation by protecting against sand and dust, foreign object damage (FOD), ice, and snow
- Increased operational availability
- Protection against engine erosion
On the Lama and Alouette helicopters, the unit consists of two flat panels mounted on intake pavilions, fitted on either sides of the engine intake. The PUREair unit is supplied as a complete, stand-alone kit.

The PUREair system is certified for operation in case of inadvertent entry into icing conditions, and therefore is allowed to operate without the need for a by-pass door and differential pressure monitoring systems.
The PUREair is a “fit and forget” system; there are no inlet barrier filters to replace or clean. As with all aerospace equipment, routine visual inspection is recommended. In case of damage, please refer to the Component Maintenance manual, available through Pall Aerospace.
