Ion Reduced Depth Filter Sheets

For distilled spirits filtration

The Seitz® Ion Reduced (IR) Depth Filter Series was developed to meet the distilled spirits industry's production needs and requirements. A visually bright finished product free from visible particles is one of the main objectives of this industry. These media are, therefore, acid-washed for reduced calcium and magnesium ions.

Why ion free depth filter sheets? Components (C12-16 fatty acid esters, terpenes, proteins, or their complex compounds with metals and/or phenols) of some spirits may precipitate if calcium ion levels are too high. Magnesium may also cause precipitations in tannin-containing spirits like whisky and brandy. Standard filter sheets contain small quantities of these extractable ions from raw materials. IR Series filter sheets undergo a proprietary treatment that results in extremely low extractable ions, making them ideal for distilled spirits.

Bioburden Filtration

Using an all polypropylene shell and filter medium, Pall's HDC® II Membrane in Kleenpak™ Capsules for Liquid Applications provides a long service life. Its design contains a minimized hold up volume for maximum product recovery. Fiber throughout filter media varies in diameter to allow a high contaminant holding capacity. Design also includes fixed pores to prevent contaminants from unloading in varying pressures.
